DREAMS REALLY DO COME TRUE

In January 2021, Villa Cavour's Co-Owner woke up and exclaimed, "I've had a dream.  I've seen the house we're supposed to buy".  Two days later she found the house online and the rest, as they say, is history.  Read the full story below...

A DREAM BORN IN ITALY

Villa Cavour's story starts in the Cavour region of Italy.  Rocco and Mara, the visionary couple behind Villa Cavour, came to Australia from Italy and settled in Hervey Bay.  They combined Rocco's passion and skill as a chef, with Mara's love of hospitality, into Villa Cavour, a stunning Queenslander home, oozing Italian character and style.  Rocco and Mara ran Villa Cavour for many years, offering exquisite food and hospitability to travellers from around the world.  Villa Cavour featured on several travel shows and Rocco ran his now-famous cooking classes from Villa Cavour's large kitchen.

A DREAM CHANGES HANDS

In 2020, travel and hospitality were no longer possible and Hervey Bay's thriving tourism industry was on hold.  Rocco and Mara decided it was time to retire.  They placed Villa Cavour on the market.  Meanwhile, another couple, Dean and Tania Comerford, were living in Gympie, 90 minutes south of Hervey Bay and also looking for a change.  However, owning a bed and breakfast in Hervey Bay wasn't on their radar.

A DREAM LEADS TO A SEACHANGE

In early January 2021, Tania woke early one morning and hurriedly roused Dean.  "I've had a dream", she said.  "I've seen the house were going to buy.  It's a two-story Queenslander, with rooms to rent out, a small apartment for us to live in, and a reception".  The following day, Dean and Tania came to Hervey Bay to meet up with friends.  It was their first visit to The Bay in nearly 10 years.  It had changed significantly in a decade and was now a thriving coastal city.  "Could we live here?" was the question of the day, which led to real estate searches and the discovery that Villa Cavour was looking for new owners.  It was a two-storey Queenslander, with rooms to rent out, a small apartment for us to live in, and a reception.  Several miracles later, Villa Cavour had new owners, and in April 2021 Dean and Tania made a sea change to the gorgeous Hervey Bay; a decision they have not once regretted.  Dreams really do come true.
